Jen Sharp and Ray Lallo will be out this weekend and are planning on holding some big way skills type camps. Rain or shine. Everyone is welcome, ALL skill levels. You can expect fun dives that will build on big-way skills. These include tips from successful base exits, approaching formations and break off and tracking safety, along with other tips essential for successfully building larger formations. If youre interested in doing bigger stuff this is going to be a great opportunity to learn from some highly experienced jumpers in the region.

Jen Sharp What time do briefings start?

Ray will start the briefing at 8:30 am. I'm speaking in Topeka at the Girls in Aviation Day for the Combat Air Museum so I won't be out until 2 or 3pm.

So weve got a bit of a bad news, good news scenario here. First the BAD news... For the foreseeable future, were going to have to tighten it up in the PAID packing area. As you can see in the photo, we took down the packing area outside and moved the structure over. The new structure we put up just has a gravel base at the moment which isnt very conducive to packing parachutes. BOO!!! Were not sure what it will eventually become, but for now well probably just throw some pic nic tables out there and have a super nice covered hang out area! Were going to have to try and make the paid packing area work for Tandems, Students and Fun Jumpers which basically will mean you cant lay your stuff out to pack UNLESS... youre actually packing it. We simply wont have the space for anyone to lay their stuff out and then head off for food at the cafe or whatever. It will be pretty tight in there for awhile but with us going into the winter months and business slowing down I dont see this being the end of the world As long as were all respectful of each other it shouldnt be too much of an issue. So what this means is... NO WHINING if you lay your stuff out, leave for a little bit and come back to find your stuff piled up in a corner. :PNow for the GOOD news... We deconstructed the packing area because we are expanding again! WOO HOO!!! Starting next week we will begin new construction on the NEW Packing area. The new packing area will encompass the entire 50x50 concrete pad. Its going to be a multi-level building with a full rigging loft and probably some new classroom areas upstairs. There is going to be several computer terminals put in for Burble manifesting, debriefing skydives and sharing skydive footage with each other. Were also entertaining the idea of throwing a pool table and some video game consoles as well. The new structure will almost double the square footage down stairs thus by increasing the size of the packing area dramatically and also will allow us to climate control the area as well. Can you say Heating and Air? Thats right people... Air-conditioned packing next year! WOOT! WOOT! And also, heated packing this winter assuming we get it finished before the season really tanks! :P This was all part of our 5 year plan but weve been doing so well were able to manage it just after 2 years. Thank you to everyone that has supported us up to this point. In the meantime, well be in the paid packing area that is fully insulated and we have been known to provide heat in there as well when the temperature really drops. Glidersports, since its inception has been the most comfortable dropzone in Missouri during the winter months (heated) and now we plan on being the most comfortable dropzone in the summer as well. If you havent been out in awhile you ought to stop by and check us out again. Were constantly growing and ALWAYS improving! Glidersports... We want to be YOUR dropzone!

Did you know that GliderSports orders more parts than anyone else in the world? This is only 1 of 3 part shipments on its way to HQ. Where are the exhausts? We have 16 on the shelf. If we don’t have it for a Vitto we will special order it, and give you a 5% discount (for parts only);)Image attachmentImage attachment

We started out with a bit of a low ceiling on Saturday. That just gave us time to let the SNJ have the skies right over the landing area. Several people took advantage and got some solo aerobatic instruction in the SNJ and also got to fulfill a dream of flying in a WWII Fighter. Fun was had by all! Once the skies cleared we started hitting it hard with tandems and as many AFFs that we could get up before it got dark. Saturday was great, Sunday... not so much. Sunday was spent prepping for some new drop zone enhancements. I even heard the shooting range getting some use as well. There were several of us that stayed and had a great time but unfortunately, there was no skydiving to be had on Sunday. ... See MoreSee Less
