Camaleon throttle cable had lots of binding

It took me two days to install the Camaleon throttle. I had to replace the entire wire cable and sheath because there was so much binding in the cable that it would not move freely enough to operate. Not sure if it was just old, or what. I went to a bike shop and purchased a new bike cable and installed it with two new pieces of heat shrink. I am pretty happy with the way the Cameleon throttle now works, but I find the kill switch a little hard to reach when wearing gloves, which was one of the main reasons for replacing my Polini throttle.

Update

It broke after the second flight. It has a shrink wrap holding the cable to unit and it just separated exposing wires near my wrist. Pushed it back in but the unit keeps grounding out and shutting off the motor. Poor quality for such a high end gadget. Save your money and get another unit.

Good Idea missing the Finish Line

First there were no instructions. Found ones for the earlier version. Installed with the straightest loosest path and the return throttle is weak. Return finger lock should have been a T instead if an L. Cable has too much resistance. Unfortunately this review won’t change anything. Will fly with it for a while

Glad I made the switch!

I have been looking for a new throttle and was skeptical of the Chameleon V3 but wanted to give it a try. So far I am glad I made the switch! Putting it on my motor was an easy replacement that took about 20 minutes to complete. I have a separate start switch so I only use the throttle as a kill switch. I personally did not use the spring to assist the throttle lever back to position as I found it out to much resistance on the throttle trigger. I was initially worried by the placement of the kill switch but after 4 hours of use, have yet to accidentally hit it. I absolutely love the feel of this throttle in flight compared to traditional throttles. I’m able to keep my brake handle securely in my hand without hardly noticing the throttle. I haven’t used the cruise control much but appears to work just fine. I do find it hard though to disengage the cruise control as you have to hit the start button and it just appears to be slightly awkward for thumb position. Also, I used some padding that I just used electrical tape to secure in place on the plastic piece that sits on your knuckle area. I found during first flight that my hand hurt quite a bit (flying no gloves). I can’t wait for some winter flying as I have a feeling this week brittle will work amazing with my heated gloves. I would highly recommend people give this throttle a try!
